Weather during the previous forecast period

   According to meteorological data recorded at Agro meteorological Observatory, Pusa (Bihar), average maximum and minimum temperature were 29.4 oC and 19.7°C respectively. Average relative humidity was 91 percent at 0700 hrs and 64 percent at 1400 hrs. Soil temperature at 5 cm depth was 21.0°C at 0700 hrs and 27.8°C at 1400 hrs. Average wind speed, daily sunshine hours and average daily evaporation were 3.5 km/hr, 4.1 hours and 2.2 mm respectively. Dry weather prevailed during this period.

Advisory for the farmers

Paddy harvest: Forecasted weather will remain favorable for harvesting and threshing of paddy crop. Farmers are advised to do this giving top priority so that the field preparation for sowing of rabi crops can be done on time.

Maize Sowing: Weather condition is now suitable for sowing of rabi maize crop. Prepare the fields and start the sowing of this crop. Apply 40 kg N, 75 kg Phosphorus and 50 kg Potassium per hectare at the time of sowing.

Gram, Lentil, pea and rajmah: Sowing of these crops is advised. Malviya mator 15, Harbhajan, Arpana, Pusa Prabhat varieties of pea are suitable for sowing in north Bihar region. Apply 20 kg N and 45 kg phosphorus and 20 kg sulphur per hectare at the time of sowing. Seed treatment with Rhizobium culture before sowing is advised in pea crop.

Potato planting: Temperature condition is now congenial for planting of potato crop. Kufri Chandramukhi, Kufri Ashoka, Kufri Pukharaj, Kufri Badhsha, Kufri Lalima, Kufri Jyoti, and Rajendra Alu 2, varieties are suitable for planting. Seed treatment before planting is advised.

Animal care:Low temperature condition may adversely affect the milk production and performance of domestic animals. Farmers are advised to give protein enriched diet to the animals. Do not keep the animal in the open.
